Reading Council is encouraging local landlords to work more closely with the authority as it looks for ways to increase housing options and improve standards across the private rented sector.
The Labour-run council is inviting landlords to a special information evening where it will outline the support available to property owners, including its Rent Guarantee Scheme.
Rent Guarantee Scheme in Focus
The event will give landlords an opportunity to learn more about the council’s scheme and the incentives available to those who take part.
Reading Council says it has worked with local landlords for many years and wants to strengthen those relationships.
A council spokesperson said the event would help landlords understand the Rent Guarantee Scheme, as well as other support available from council teams.
The authority says this could help landlords manage their properties more effectively while improving the experience for tenants.
Focus on Housing Standards
The council is also using the event to address wider issues affecting private rented housing.
Sessions will cover the Renters’ Rights Act, along with advice on preventing and dealing with damp and mould.

Landlords Invited to Attend
The Landlord Information Evening is scheduled to take place on 29 October.
The event will begin at 6pm, with presentations starting at 6.30pm.
For local landlords, the evening will provide an opportunity to find out more about the council’s rental schemes and support services, as well as the latest changes affecting the private rented sector.
The council’s approach highlights the growing role local authorities are placing on the private rental sector as they seek to address housing pressures and improve accommodation standards.
